For Bengals, Joe Burrow’s Return Restores Rhythm After Two-Month Absence. Joe Burrow needed only one throw on Thursday night to remind the Cincinnati Bengals what they had been missing.

Stepping up into a collapsing pocket, Burrow floated a pass into the tightest of windows for wide receiver Andrei Iosivas, who caught it in stride for a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens. Burrow erupted in celebration, slamming helmets with left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. — a burst of emotion that reflected both relief and vindication.

The moment capped a long road back from the turf toe injury that sidelined him for more than two months and required surgery. In his first appearance since September, Burrow delivered two touchdown passes in a 32–14 victory at M&T Bank Stadium, breaking a four-game losing streak and giving Cincinnati (4–8) its first win over Baltimore (6–6) since the 2022 postseason.

“There’s no better feeling than that — putting in work for a long time and seeing it pay off,” Burrow said after the game.

Burrow completed 24 of 46 passes for 261 yards, throwing no interceptions. But early on, the offense sputtered. Cincinnati’s first four trips inside the red zone failed to produce a touchdown, including a sequence of four straight stops inside Baltimore’s 2-yard line. Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase kept the Bengals afloat with a series of key contested catches, surpassing 100 yards before the end of the third quarter.

It took time for Burrow to shake off the rust. “The whole first half, my feet were a little antsy,” he said. “In the second half, I felt a lot more comfortable.”

A single play flipped that rhythm. With the Bengals threatening to stall out again, Burrow lofted a pass toward tight end Tanner Hudson, who twisted and hauled in a one-handed touchdown just before sliding out of the back corner of the end zone. That score stretched Cincinnati’s lead to 19–7 and gave the team rare breathing room.

“You could feel the confidence from everyone,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said. “It was a big moment.”

Minutes later came the throw that underscored Burrow’s value. Drifting forward in the pocket, he dropped a pass over a Ravens defender and into the arms of Iosivas for a second touchdown. The precision wasn’t perfect, Burrow admitted, but the placement was.

“I didn’t exactly spin it the way I wanted, but I put it where it needed to be,” he said.

Burrow played the game with a protective plate in his left shoe. During warmups, he tested his movement with a series of quick sprints and directional cuts before fist-bumping the team’s rehab director, Nick Cosgray — a quiet signal that he was ready.

According to Next Gen Stats, Burrow attempted eight on-the-run throws, completing six for 55 yards and a touchdown while moving more than 8 miles per hour. He scrambled outside the pocket six times, including an early attempt toward Iosivas that Burrow said reassured him he could move better than expected.

“I was a little more mobile than I thought I’d be,” he said. “We’ve got a good system with the shoes, keeping things fresh.”

After the game, Burrow spoke more reflectively about the months of rehab that threatened to derail what began as a promising season. Chase said Burrow kept his emotions mostly hidden throughout the week, but the quarterback’s postgame tone revealed the weight of the moment.

“It hasn’t been easy on me through six years from a lot of different angles,” Burrow said. “A lot of people around me have done so much, and I’ve worked really hard to be back out there. I’m proud to be back.”
