A breakout performance by Miami Hurricanes freshman wide receiver Malachi Toney has sparked a wave of curiosity about a possible family connection to NFL player Kadarius Toney. Despite the shared last name, the two athletes are not related.

Distinguishing Two Talented Wide Receivers
Malachi Toney, a 17-year-old freshman, made an immediate impact in his college debut against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, scoring a touchdown that showcased his potential. The play instantly drew attention and led many to speculate about a link to Kadarius Toney, who has played for the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Giants.
According to a report from Saturday Down South, the talented young wide receiver is the son of former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown. His family background includes his mother and a late aunt, who he has credited for their support and inspiration in his journey.
Kadarius Toney’s Family and Career
Kadarius Toney, on the other hand, comes from a different family lineage. He is the youngest of seven children born to Dana Toney, a Navy veteran, and Angela, who works at Huntington Ingalls. His path to the NFL included a successful collegiate career at the University of Florida before being drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
While both athletes share a surname and a position on the field, their family histories and football journeys are distinct. Malachi Toney is just beginning his collegiate career, while Kadarius Toney has already established a professional presence in the NFL.
